The idea of once again having a soccer club in Bethlehem has gone from a hopeful thought into a stunning reality. On Sunday Bethlehem Steel FC will take the pitch for their second home match of the season. The team is now well underway in their inaugural season and this week marks a special anniversary for the club that came before them.
Bethlehem Steel was considered one of the first dominant teams in the history of U.S. Soccer. Founded in 1907, the club won six league championships in their first nine years of existence. It wasn’t until 1925 that the club finished the season below second in league play.
