Bethesda Project was recognized as Philadelphia Union’s Charity of the Match in the Union’s 3-0 win against New England Revolution.
Bethesda Project aims to combat homlessness and poverty throughout the Philadelphia area. Starting in 1979, the Bethesda Project welcomed homeless women who needed a place to stay. In its next 30-plus years, the organization has blossomed to 13 different locations in the Philadelphia area, serving more than 2,000 individuals every year.
The non-profit uses a housing first approach to combat homelessness, which breaks down barriers to access shelter and allows the individual to go through the journey of healing.
