Bedoya captains USMNT in Gold Cup opener

Philadelphia Union captain Alejandro Bedoya brandished another armband today: that of the United States Men’s National Team. In their Gold Cup-opening draw against Panama, the 30-year-old served as captain of the USMNT for the first time in his international career.

With 62 appearances, Bedoya is the most-capped player on a Gold Cup roster that is admittedly missing several key players - including Michael Bradley (who regularly wears the armband for the US).

The United States drew Panama, 1-1 in their first game of group play on Saturday night.
