The Union have three players with national teams for the Gold Cup (Alejandro Bedoya, Chris Pontius and Andre Blake), with Bethlehem Steel FC's Cory Burke playing for the Jamaican national team as well. It continues the Union's pursuit of having players on soccer's biggest stage.
"The club wants to have players players represent their national team," Head Coach Jim Curtin said. "It's an honor just to be called in. It's something we work towards."
The Union's presence on the international stage took another step forward as Bedoya and Blake both served as captains in their team's respective opening matches of the Gold Cup.
