Despite some upsets and wild results this weekend, the Eastern Conference standings look the same they did seven days ago, with the Union holding on to the number four spot.
Chicago blanks Montreal
Probably one of the most eye-catching result from this weekend was Chicago Fire’s 3-0 victory over 5th place Montreal Impact. This was Chicago’s first road win since July of 2014. Think about that. The last time the Fire won on the road, ‘Fancy’ by Iggy Azelia was the top song on the radio (we were so young and naïve back then).
But Chicago was able to get it done with the help from newly acquired Luis Solignac scoring in the 15th minute, followed by goals from David Accam and Matt Polster.
