Alex Morgan scores as U.S. women's soccer team ties Canada 1-1

The U.S. women’s soccer team and Canada played to a 1-1 tie Thursday night in Vancouver, B.C., before 28,017 fans at BC Place.

Alex Morgan scored the Americans’ goal in the 31st minute:

Adrianna Leon equalized for Canada in the 57th, capitalizing on a scramble after a corner kick. It was a deserved reward for the home team’s high-pressure attack throughout the night.

Carli Lloyd played the game’s final 35 minutes as a substitute in central midfield for Samantha Mewis.

Though it wasn’t a win — Canada could easily have scored a second on multiple occasions — the result extended the Americans’ unbeaten streak over their northern neighbors to 32 games.
