Aaronson chosen as a top 10 homegrown player of 2019

With Major League Soccer on break for the Gold Cup and Copa America, MLSSoccer.com is showcasing numerous top 10 lists. The latest from Jonathan Sigal features the top 10 homegrown players who are having breakout seasons in 2019.

Philadelphia Union midfielder Brenden Aaronson leads the list having made the most of his opportunities to start in the Union midfield with Marco Fabián unavailable. The spotlight has been on the Medford 18-year-old since his first appearance of the season, starting on the road against the defending MLS Cup champions and oh did he deliver. Aaronson scored the Union's lone goal in his MLS debut and left Atlanta United's goalkeeper Brad Guzan yelling timber as he fell to the ground.
