Haris Medunjanin quickly became a fan favorite for the Union, but there was one specific moment during the 2017 season where every fan was proud to say he played for their team.
In the Union's match against DC United on June 24, Medunjanin and DC United's Luciano Acosta both went for a ball near the sideline. Acosta gave Medunjanin a push, causing him to fall to the pitch and being called for a foul. Referee Sorin Stocia ran over to Acosta, and to the delight and surprise of the Union faithful, gave him a straight red card.
