The Phillies — and their fans — have to manage expectations with Justin Crawford in 2026

One of the more interesting things to come out of Dave Dombrowski’s end-of-season press conference were his comments regarding top Phillies outfield prospect Justin Crawford.

Days before the start of the National League Division Series, Dombrowski didn’t take as strong of a stance on the 21-year-old potentially starting the 2026 season with the major league club.

“I think very comfortably that he will have a chance to compete for a spot next spring,” Dombrowski said on Sept. 30.

Now, the door is wide open for Crawford to be in the Phillies Opening Day lineup.

“I’m not going to declare that anybody has a job, but there will be some people that we’re really open minded to being with our big league club next year coming out of spring training,” Dombrowski said on Oct.
