There are certain behaviors that we can all agree are ill-advised at a Phillies game. Wearing a Braves jersey. Trying to start the wave when the game is tense. Wearing a Braves hat. Trying to run onto the field. Wearing a Braves t-shirt.
There’s little agreement, however, on starting the E-A-G-L-E-S chant at a Phillies game. It’s a common occurrence, nearly ubiquitous. But to some Phillies fans it’s preposterous to cheer for a football team at a baseball game. To others, invoking the name of our beloved birds is simply a show of good natured civic pride.
