PHILADELPHIA – At this time last year, Taijuan Walker was on the injured list with a 5.60 ERA. He was a few blowups away from going to the bullpen. Many wondered how the Phillies could justify keeping him on the roster through the 2024 season.

The Phillies decided to stick with Walker. They have been rewarded for it.

The right-hander on Tuesday threw six innings in a start for the first time since April 3, his first outing of the year. He kept the Orioles off the scoreboard while striking out four and allowing only four hits, all singles in a 5-0 Phillies shutout victory over the Baltimore Orioles.
