Souderton native Jamie Moyer spending more time working with his foundation to help children

Phillies' chairman, former team president and minority owner David Montgomery will be presented with The Moyer Foundation's Jamie Moyer Legends Award at the foundation's third annual Champions for Children Luncheon at noon on Tuesday, Sept. 15.

The foundation, started in 2000 by former Phillies' pitcher and Souderton native, Jamie Moyer, and his wife, Karen, is a non-profit organization "with a mission to provide comfort, hope and healing to children affected by loss and family addiction," according to its website.

Chris Wheeler, a television broadcaster for the Phillies from 1977 to 2013, will be the luncheon's emcee and it will be attended by former Pennsylvania Governor Ed Rendell, who is a member of the foundation's advisory board, along with former Phillies Bob Boone, Mike Schmidt, Larry Bowa and Greg Luzinski.
