Sosa, Luzardo lead Phillies to first place

PHILADELPHIA – In April, the Phillies were trying to find every way possible to get Edmundo Sosa in the lineup. He even played the outfield. It didn’t last long. He got some playing time at third base when Bryce Harper missed games after a hit-by-pitch in the Atlanta series. The Phillies in June have prioritized at-bats for Otto Kemp over Sosa.

In just his second start in the last 12 days, Sosa delivered the biggest hit of the series, a three-run home run against David Peterson in a 7-1 win over the New York Mets. The Phillies (47-31) now have sole possession of first place in the National League East over the Mets (42-32).
