Sánchez dominates yet again in shutout win over Tigers

PHILADELPHIA – The Phillies, behind eight shutout innings from Cristopher Sánchez, squeezed out a 2-0 victory over the Detroit Tigers on Sunday Night Baseball.

Sánchez showed once again in the national spotlight why he is one of the best pitchers in the league. His efficiency was impressive. He entered the eighth inning with his pitch count at 73. His highest pitch count in an inning? 15.

The Phillies lefty had a real chance at a Maddux, a complete game on less than 100 pitches, but Rob Thomson opted to put in his new closer Jhoan Duran for the ninth.
