Realmuto wins Silver Slugger

The awards for J.T. Realmuto just keep coming in.

On the heels of his Gold Glove win earlier this week, the Best Catcher in Baseball has been awarded the Silver Slugger as the National League’s best hitting catcher as well. Unlike the Gold Glove, this one came as somewhat of a surprise. Brewers catcher Yasmani Grandal was the favorite to win the award.

While unexpected, he is certainly deserving of the honor. He set career-highs in a plethora of offensive categories this season, including runs (92), doubles (36), home runs (25) and RBIs (83). He’s only the third catcher in MLB history to have at least 90 runs, 35 doubles and 25 home runs in a single season.
