Ranger Suárez hit with comebacker in last regular season start

PHILADELPHIA — Ranger Suárez was removed from Saturday night’s game against the Minnesota Twins in the fifth inning after getting hit in the left thigh with a comebacker off the bat of Ryan Jeffers.

He fielded the ball and fired to first after getting hit. He fell to a knee and laid on the ground, but quickly got back up. He laughed as his teammates, an athletic trainer and Rob Thomson spoke with him, but he was removed from the game. Max Lazar came in to pitch in relief of Suárez.

The Phillies are calling it a left inner thigh contusion for Suárez.
