LOS ANGELES — The ball left Shohei Ohtani’s bat at 103 mph, flying 362 feet into left field at Dodger Stadium. The two-way Los Angeles superstar pitched well in Game 1 against Philadelphia, but his offense had been quiet in this National League Division Series. It seemed like he might have found his first big swing of this series in the seventh inning of Game 3.
As the ball traveled through the air, Phillies left fielder Max Kepler ventured back. He reached the warning track, stopped and caught the ball on his right side. Ohtani just missed a home run.
