Phillies will play Cardinals in NL Wild Card Series

The Philadelphia Phillies will return to the postseason for the first time since 2011 against the same opponent that shockingly eliminated them from the playoffs 11 years ago.

By defeating the San Francisco Giants Tuesday night, the San Diego Padres have locked up the second Wild Card spot in the National League. That means that the Phillies are the third and final Wild Card team, and will play a best-of-three series in St. Louis to open the postseason.

Of course, the Phillies are an entirely different organization than they were in 2011. However, Albert Pujols and Yadier Molina were part of the Cardinals team that upset the Phillies in the 2011 NLDS, and are both in the final season of their Hall of Fame careers.
