Chase Utley is coming back soon. Ryan Lawrence of the Philadelphia Daily News reported yesterday that the second baseman is headed back to Philadelphia to consult with the team and could potentially be activated on Friday. If not then, sometime very soon. Utley has been out since June 23 with a right ankle injury. He hit the disabled list with a nightmarish .532 OPS.
In Utley’s absence, Cesar Hernandez has taken over regular second base duties, batting .281/.357/.363 with 16 stolen bases in 20 attempts. He has thoroughly outplayed the veteran this season, but it was still a surprise when GM Ruben Amaro, Jr.
