Andrew McCutchen led off on Opening Day in 2019 with a 428-foot home run that energized the crowd at Citizens Bank Park. He won’t get the chance to top that moment in 2020, and not simply because the Philadelphia Phillies will open the season in Miami.

Friday, manager Joe Girardi told the collective media, including Matt Gelb of The Athletic, that McCutchen isn’t going to be ready to begin the regular season.
