Gary Matthews will be on hand at the MLB Draft to wish the Phillies eighth overall pick “continued success” as they join the Phillies organization.
The former outfielder and broadcaster will be joined alongside former teammate Del Unser as the Phillies representatives in the MLB June Amateur Draft.
Matthews and Unser played alongside each other for Philadelphia from 1981-82 as the franchise came off their first World Championship. Unser, the elder statesman of the club, only managed to play 19 games in 1982, recording zero hits in his final major league season.
