PHILADELPHIA – The Phillies are pushing back ace Zack Wheeler’s next start to Sunday.
The right-hander reported more soreness than usual in his shoulder following his last start on August 2 against the Detroit Tigers. The Phillies sent him for imaging. That came back clean.
Rob Thomson said he is not concerned, but the tone of his pregame conversation with reporters on Wednesday changed when the rotation and Wheeler were brought up.
When asked if the shoulder issue has impacted his command of late, Thomson said he thinks Wheeler’s complete-game win on July 6 has more to do with it.
