Prior to the 6 p.m. ET deadline to protect prospects from being eligible to be selected in the Rule 5 Draft, the Phillies added one player to their 40-man roster Tuesday afternoon.

Minor leaguer Johan Rojas was added to Philadelphia’s 40-man roster, preventing him from being chosen by another club when the Rule 5 draft takes place on Dec. 7. The Phillies now have 37 players on their 40-man roster.

Rojas, 22, is a speedy center fielder who reached Double-A Reading this past season. With a .328 career on-base percentage, he’s struggled to reach base on a consistent basis in his time through the minors, but still has tools to make him an intriguing player.
