Phillies prospect Moisés Chace needs Tommy John surgery

PHILADELPHIA — Right-hander Moisés Chace, a Phillies prospect acquired in the Gregory Soto trade with Baltimore last season, will likely be sidelined until next season at the earliest.

Chace will require Tommy John surgery on his elbow, big-league manager Rob Thomson announced at Citizens Bank Park on Friday. The 21-year-old had been placed on the seven-day injured list at Double-A Reading after leaving his last start in the second inning.

Coming to the Phillies organization from the Orioles along with fellow pitcher Seth Johnson, Chace impressed as he moved his way up to Double-A by the end of last season.
