As the word spread that the Phillies were adding a former All-Star outfielder to the mix, big-league manager Rob Thomson gave prospect Justin Crawford a call on Monday night. The team was set to sign Adolis García to a one-year deal to play right field, and Thomson wanted to make sure Crawford knew that he was still in the plans for 2026.
“Being a young kid, I just wanted to reiterate the fact that he’s coming into camp to win a job,” Thomson said, “and signing Adolis does not affect Justin at all. Again, I want him to come into camp and be himself, and if he is himself, he’ll make this club.
