The Phillies announced a series of roster moves on Tuesday afternoon.
The club placed right-handed pitcher Jordan Romano on the 15-day injured list with right middle finger inflammation. They also released right-hander Joe Ross.
Romano, signed in the offseason to a one-year, $8.5 million contract to pitch in the back of the Phillies’ bullpen, has struggled this season. After allowing four earned runs in Monday’s 13-3 loss to the Mets, Romano’s ERA on the year ballooned to 8.23 across 42 2/3 innings pitched. Three of those runs came on a three-run home run by Luis Torrens. It was the 10th homer Romano has allowed this season, a career-high.
