Phillies Minor League Report: IronPigs, Threshers both win in dramatic fashion

Here’s how the Phillies’ minor league teams fared on Wednesday, July 8:

Lehigh Valley IronPigs (38-50) – Triple A

Despite falling behind early, the IronPigs fought their way back and eventually topped the Pawtucket Red Sox in dramatic fashion, 9-8, in 11 innings at Coca-Cola Park in Allentown.

The victory was Lehigh Valley’s ninth in its last 11 outings.

The IronPigs fell behind at the expense of starting pitcher Jesse Biddle, who allowed seven runs in only 2.1 innings in his triple-A debut. He also walked six batters.

Heading into the fifth inning, the IronPigs trailed 8-1, but plated four runs during the frame and plated three more during the sixth to tie the game.
