Phillies facing the outfield shuffle

BRADENTON, Fla. - Ryan Jackson, an infielder for 711 of his 722 games as a professional, trotted to left field Monday in the bottom of the sixth inning. It is spring training, so experiments are welcomed. But, less than a month until opening day, a glaring lack of Phillies outfield depth requires some creative thinking.

The Phillies should learn more about the extent of Aaron Altherr's wrist injury on Tuesday. He visited a specialist in Philadelphia on Monday, and the team did not release an update on his status.

It is never good when a team's outfield depth is pushed to the limit less than two weeks into Grapefruit League games.
