Thursday, president-in-waiting Andy MacPhail announced the Philadelphia Phillies have decided to move in a new direction at general manger and dismissed GM Ruben Amaro Jr. which is effective immediately.

Assistant general manager Scott Proefrock will step in as the interim GM while the search for a new GM begins.

The Phillies are one of baseball’s worst teams at 54-86 and will not be playing in the postseason for the fourth straight year.
