The latest Phillies rumor to come out of the Baseball Winter Meetings continues to connect them to shortstop Didi Gregorius, a favorite of manager Joe Girardi.
According to Ken Rosenthal on MLB Network, Gregorius is “likely” to take a one-year deal to reset his value after missing time following Tommy John surgery. Philadelphia, Cincinnati, and Milwaukee are said to be interested in Gregorius, whose market is expected to expand under the prospect of a one year deal.
Rosenthal notes that Gregorius only wants to play shortstop, which would mean Philadelphia moving Jean Segura to second base to replace Cesar Hernandez and Scott Kingery playing third base.
