As if any more evidence was needed, the Mets further proved that they have the Phillies’ number.
Philadelphia dropped a 6-5 decision to its NL East rivals on Tuesday night at Citi Field. The loss shrunk the Phillies’ (76-56) lead over the Mets to five games and gave the New York the series win after the Phillies lost Monday’s game as well.
Tied at five going into the bottom of the ninth, Jhoan Duran was brought in to send the game to extras but failed to record an out. With bases loaded, Brandon Nimmo landed the winning blow, going the other way for an RBI single that scored Starling Marte.
