Phillies bats go down quietly in loss to White Sox

Coming off a series win against the Yankees, the Phillies rolled into Chicago looking to beat up on the lowly White Sox. Instead, a familiar theme of lifeless offense took hold, sending the club back to the drawing board. Philadelphia (60-46) dropped the first game of a three-game series to the White Sox (39-68) by a final score of 6-2 on Monday, July 28, at Guaranteed Rate Field.

The Phillies opened the scoring during their half of the third inning. After a Kyle Schwarber walk with two outs loaded the bases, Bryce Harper smacked a ball up the middle to drive in two runners before hustling to stretch what would’ve been a routine single into a double.
