In a move that is unprecedented in Major League Baseball, the Phillies are signing Cristopher Sánchez to a restructured extension, the team announced Sunday morning.
Sánchez’s new deal begins in 2027 and runs through 2032 with a club option for 2033. The new deal guarantees him $107 million, per Matt Gelb of The Athletic.
The Phillies have added three additional years, with the team option included, of club control over the ace in exchange for additional cash in earlier years of the deal. Sánchez will make $3 million in 2026 as part of his original deal.
