Phillies add 2 relievers to active roster, send Brogdon, Jones to Triple A

Prior to Thursday’s series opener against the Marlins, the Phillies activated right-handed pitcher James Norwood (bereavement list) and selected the contract of right-handed pitcher Andrew Bellatti from Lehigh Valley. Joe Girardi told reporters after Wednesday’s game that relievers Connor Brogdon and Damon Jones were optioned to Lehigh Valley.

To make room for Bellatti on the 40-man roster, the Phillies transferred right-handed pitcher Sam Coonrod (right shoulder strain) to the 60-day injured list.

Norwood, 28, was claimed off waivers by the Phillies from San Diego during spring training.
