Phil Gosselin signs minor-league deal with AL West team

The Los Angeles Angels have signed former Phillies utility man Phil Gosselin to a minor-league deal with an invite to spring training, per Fabian Ardaya of The Athletic.

Gosselin’s journeyman career will now take him to his seventh major league team in seven years. His résumé includes playing time with the Braves, Diamondbacks, Pirates, Rangers, Reds and his hometown Phillies.

The Malvern Prep graduate spent two seasons as a bench bat for the Phillies. He slashed .262/.294/.308 in 65 at-bats in 2019 and despite playing 78 games at Triple-A, accumulated more at-bats as a pinch-hitter than any other player on the team.
