Nola, rotation finishing strong in win against Twins

Aaron Nola reached a cool milestone — and finished off a tough regular season in strong fashion in a 3-1 win over the Minnesota Twins.

Nola surpassed Hall of Famer Robin Roberts for second on the all-time Phillies strikeout list in the fifth inning. His 1,876 strikeouts in a Phillies uniform is second to only Steve Carlton’s 3,031 strikeouts.

Nola had a perfect game going through 5 2/3 innings. A Christian Vázquez solo home run in the sixth ended Nola’s perfect game and shutout bid. The only other hit he allowed was a leadoff triple to his former teammate Kody Clemens in the seventh inning.
