Sunday, March 5: Both sides resumed bargaining on Sunday in New York City. In its latest proposal, the MLBPA offered increased flexibility on three specific rule changes: pitch clocks, banning the shift and larger bases. Current rules state that the commissioner has the power to unilaterally implement a rule change if he gives the union a year’s notice. Sunday’s proposal cuts that time down from a year to 45 days starting in 2023 for those specific changes.
