PHILADELPHIA – Red Sox manager Alex Cora got a taste of the Kyle Schwarber Experience.
Boston acquired Schwarber at the 2021 trade deadline. Schwarber was in the middle of a career year at the time with the Washington Nationals, batting .253 with a .910 OPS and 25 home runs. He was on the injured list with a hamstring strain as the trade went down, delaying his Red Sox debut until mid-August. The injury lingered for the rest of the year.
Boston also acquired him despite not having a set position for him to play. He floated between DH and left field, playing a little first base.
