PHILADELPHIA -- Scott Kingery swung at the first pitch he saw Tuesday at Citizens Bank Park. With two on and two outs in the first inning, he hooked a slider from Rockies starter Jon Gray just foul down the left-field line, narrowly missing a home run that would've put the Phillies ahead.
Three pitches later, the Phillies rookie straightened it out and smacked a 97-mph fastball into the left-center-field seats for his first home run since April 10 and third of the season to put Philadelphia ahead, 3-0.
The homer left Kingery's bat at 106.
