Josh Maurer will fill in for Tom McCarthy on Saturday and Sunday’s Philadelphia Phillies broadcasts on NBC Sports Philadelphia, as first noted by Joe McDonald of The Worcester Telegram.
Maurer is currently the play-by-play announcer for the Worcester Woo Sox, who are in their first season as the Triple-A affiliate of the Boston Red Sox. Previously, Maurer had been the play-by-play voice of the Pawtucket Red Sox, who had been the Red Sox Triple-A affiliate. A graduate of Lower Merion High School, Maurer has filled in on both television and radio for the Red Sox for seven years.
