CHICAGO — Dave Dombrowski, the focus of the week in Phillies land, strolled through the visiting Rate Field clubhouse on Monday night, a stack of papers in hand, his team on the heels of an uninspiring 6-2 loss behind a pedestrian Cristopher Sánchez, and turned his head toward Jesús Luzardo on his way out. “Get ‘em tomorrow,” he said, without breaking stride. Luzardo nodded.
Message received.
Luzardo was refreshingly superb on Tuesday night, firing seven scoreless innings with one walk and just two hits in a 6-3 Phillies win. Twice, he retired at least eight consecutive White Sox.
