Jesús Luzardo shoves and offense comes alive as Phillies capture win in series finale against Giants

The Philadelphia Phillies lost last night’s game in heartbreaking fashion on a walk-off three run inside-the-park home run by Patrick Bailey. The Phillies haven’t won a series in San Francisco since 2013 and after dropping the first two games of the series, that nagging trend would in fact continue.

The Phillies desperately needed to get a spark going to bounce back. They got just that, thanks to Jesús Luzardo, Bryce Harper and a seven-run eighth inning.

Luzardo, Seth Johnson, and Joe Ross combined to throw a shutout as the Phillies’ offense finished with 17 hits.

Luzardo last took the mound on the Fourth of July against the Cincinnati Reds.
