Jesús Luzardo rebound gives way to epic Phillies comeback

PHILADELPHIA — The Mets put a four spot on Jesús Luzardo in the first. The left-hander responded by retiring 19 consecutive batters, paving the way for an epic comeback in a 6-4 victory over the Mets.

It all happened so quickly for Luzardo in the first. Twenty-two pitches in, the Mets already had a four-run lead with two steals. New York threatened to add on with one out and Starling Marte in scoring position. Jeff McNeil hit a comebacker right at Luzardo, who snared it, turned and fired to second base to get Marte out for the double play.
