Former Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Jerad Eickhoff is making his return to a big-league roster.
The San Diego Padres announced Sunday that they selected the right-hander’s contract ahead of their game against the Colorado Rockies. Eickhoff was placed on the active roster after first baseman Eric Hosmer was put on the 10-day injured list.
Before becoming a Padre, Eickhoff had spent the first five seasons of his career with the Phillies.
Eickhoff was a key returning piece in the Phillies’ trade of Cole Hamels to the Texas Rangers in 2015. He made his major-league debut for the Phillies later that season, posting a 2.
