IronPigs win first game back following Daniel Brito’s medical emergency

Just days after infielder Daniel Brito suffered a medical emergency on the field, the Triple-A Lehigh Valley IronPigs returned to action on Tuesday night, delivering a shutout win as they displayed many reminders of their missing teammate.

IronPigs pitchers handled the Buffalo Bisons offense as Lehigh Valley cruised to a 6-1 victory in its first on field-appearance since Saturday.

The 23-year-old Brito collapsed in the first inning of a game on Saturday at Rochester’s Frontier Field. The remainder of the series was postponed as Brito stayed at a nearby hospital for surgery and medical evaluation.

The Philadelphia Phillies, Lehigh Valley’s major-league affiliate, issued a statement before the game on Brito’s condition.
