The Phillies have what is essentially a three-game lead for a playoff spot heading into the final 16 games of the season. It’s a decent spot to be in, but the situation wouldn’t feel as desperate as it does right now if the Phillies would have taken at least one of the three games over the weekend against the Braves.
A lot can change in a week. It should be considered a big victory if the Phillies found a way to maintain their current lead when they wake up in Chicago on Sept. 26. They’ll go through the gauntlet during the final homestand of the season.
