Homers Away from Home: Phillies 9, Rockies 3

Coors Field. It’s got a reputation. For being the home of a perpetually struggling baseball club, yes, but also for moonshots, rainbow drops, dingers, downtowners, round-trippers, gopher balls, taters (yes I did consult the Dickson Baseball Thesaurus). It lived up to that reputation tonight.

Though the Phillies would eventually find themselves enjoying the homer-happy domain, their first taste of it came when when Ezequiel Tovar sent a Cristopher Sánchez slider soaring to deep left, far over the vast plains that Denver refers to as an outfield, for a 1-0 lead in the first.

The visitors got their first baserunner on with two outs in the top of the second via an Edmundo Sosa single up the middle; he was soon joined by Alec Bohm via the free pass.
