The first home run trot of Jack Farrell's career was notable for two things: It's lack of speed and it's wealth of significance.
"Really slow," Farrell said his pace around the bases after the first home run of his career at Holy Cross Academy.
Farrell's three-run home run on Tuesday probably was the biggest hit in recent Holy Cross history. It turned a 2-1 deficit into a 4-2 lead in the bottom of the sixth inning of the Non-Public South B championship game.
Holy Cross coach Steve Paolini was thrilled.
He wasn't surprised.
"Everytime we needed a big hit this season, Jack got it," Paolini said as the Lancers warmed up on their home field before practice on Thursday.
