PHILADELPHIA — Trade deadline acquisition Harrison Bader has made an impact with the Phillies on and off the field.
Philadelphia acquired him from the Minnesota Twins knowing they were getting elite defense in center field. They hoped he would lengthen a lineup in need of more right-handed thump. He cooled down near the end of the season, but from Aug. 20 to Sept. 19, Bader was one of the hottest hitters in the sport, batting .406 with a 1.079 OPS. He had eight three-hit games in that one-month span.
Before trading for him at the deadline, president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski heard that he was a “dynamic” personality.
