Four homers back Sánchez as Phillies beat Marlins

The Phillies slugged their way past the Marlins on Friday night, bashing four homers to give Cristopher Sánchez more than enough cushion in a 9-3 series-opening win.

Sánchez turned in his second straight one-run, seven-inning outing, allowing six hits and striking out five in the process. He generated 14 whiffs, eight of which came on his changeup. Only once did the Marlins have multiple runners on base; Sánchez retired 10 of the last 11 batters he faced.

Scoring against the Marlins’ pitching staff on Friday night was like taking a baseball from a child. The Phillies smashed four home runs, including one from each of the three starting outfielders as Nick Castellanos sat for the third time in four games.
